ESXI – VMware Tools Slackware 14

VMware Tools is a suite of utilities that enhances the performance of the virtual machine’s guest operating system and improves management of the virtual machine. Installing it in the guest operating system is vital. Although the guest operating system can run without it, you lose important functionality and convenience.

VMware Tools Slackware installation starts by right clicking the virtual machine you wish to install the tools on, selecting “Guest”, and clicking “Install/Upgrade VMware Tools.”

1.  Become root.

sudo su -

2. Make the /etc/pam.d directory.

mkdir /etc/pam.d

3. Mount the ISO  img to /media/cdrom It will mount as read-only.

mount /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd

4. Extract the File to /tmp

cd /mnt/dvd/
tar -xzvf VMwareTools*.tar.gz -C /tmp

5. Install the script.

cd /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib
./vmware-install.pl -d

6. Reboot

shutdown -r 0
